A day in My life

An average day in my life is…

I wake up at 6 in the morning and have a shower. Then it would be around 6:15. After my shower I will get dressed in my school uniform. After I get dressed I go out in the living room and watch some Young Sheldon. I will have some breakfast usually a bagel or a crumpet. Then I will pack my bag for school. When I arrive at school I play some rugby or basketball with my friends until we have to go inside. At lunch we normally play rugby. After school my Mum might have a meeting but when we get home I will play some Fortnite. After Fortnite I will have some dinner. My favorite is tortellini. That was a day in my life.

Great Geography

This term in my Hub the year 7s have been learning about Geography, while the year 8s have been doing leadership roles. My create was to do a little briefing of a region in New Zealand. I learned that there are 16 regions in New Zealand. I originally got to the region of Auckland but then I realized that Otago was open. So I asked the teacher if I could have Otago and she said I could if i did it by myself. Here it is…

Do you know anything about Otago?

Holy Week???????????

Kia Ora.

This week in the Totara Hub we have been learning about Holy Week. Holy Week takes place in Lent. Lent is when Jesus spent 40 days in the desert. it is also a time to repent, pray, fast and almsgiving. Holy Week starts on Passion Sunday. Passion Sunday is when Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey. That was not tamed. When he told his disciples to gok get a donkey they got a wild one which wasn’t tamed. But when Jesus touched it suddenly stopped honking. The day after Passion Sunday is Holy Thursday which is when the Last Supper took place. It was also the night when Jesus got betrayed by Judas. Holy Week continues on with Good Friday. Good Friday is when Jesus died on the cross. Then we have the last day of Holy Week is Easter Sunday which is the day when Jesus rose from the dead and showed his disciples the hole is hid hands. I did 2 creates this week one of which was a word search and another one is the important events of Holy Week. Here they are….

The TRIDUUM

Kia Ora, this week in the Tortara Hub we made new groups for reading. My Group was called The Triduum. This was a very fun task, we learned about the Triduum. The Triduum is based on three whole days in the Catholic Church. The three days are Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. When we did this task we read texts about the Triduum. We learned that the altar was stripped on Good Friday (to remember Jesus on the cross). We also learned that on Easter Saturday there is a vigil to baptism people and confirm people. Our task was to read texts and take notes, write down our new vocabulary, sort out the events on whatever day they are on and to fill in the blank based on the Triduum. Here it is…

Read up to slide 9.

Google Vid??????

This week in the Totara hub Miss Henderson was doing a class on air learning session. While we were doing this we had to read two stories and try to find connections about them, write a summary, find the themes of the story, and write who the main characters were. After this we did a book review on this new thing Google added called “Google Vid!” It was fun trying to figure everything out. I did the book review with my friend Flynn.

Here is the Link If you want to see it for yourself.

Have you ever written a book review?

Hamish Kerr

This week we had Hamish Kerr come to our school. If you do not know who Hamish Kerr is he is a New Zealand Olympian, who won gold in Paris this year. When he came to our school he talked about his life and how he wanted to become a high jumper at the age of 21! He told us why he doesn’t jump over people, it is because he once jumped over his girlfriend and nearly kicked her in the face. Hamish also let us touch his gold medal from Paris when he had to jump 2.34 to get gold.

It was really cool I really enjoyed it. What is your favorite athletics sport?

Suessical The Musical

This Week we had NASDA come and perform Suessical The Musical .

Something that I enjoyed about the performance was how people could do high notes and low notes everyone all-round was really good and I couldn’t see how they could do better.

Something that I found interesting about this performance was how they fitted four Dr Seuss stories into one including Horton Hears a Who, Cat in the Hat, The Lorax and Yertle The Turtle .

Something new that I learned was that you can do everything like a flip if you can just try because it’s not about your athletic ability it’s about what’s going on in your head.

What do you know about Dr Seuss?

It’s Been a long 4 years…

Go NZ!

This year in Paris there is something special happening, it is the Olympics! New Zealand are competing in this year’s Paris Olympics. We are coming 11th right now out of a lot of countries. Our first Gold Medal was when the rugby sevens team called the Black Ferns Sevens got gold in their sport and then that kicked off a nice streak of medals for NZ.

After the Rugby Hayden Wilde had a amazing race in the Triathlon coming second but he was leading the race for most of it. But Alex Yee sprinted the last 400m.

And then last night New Zealand showed us how good we are at rowing winning Gold, Silver and Bronze. So now that brings us to a total of 5 medals and hopefully my favorite New Zealand Olympian Tom Walsh will bring us another gold.

What Country do you support?

Save The World!

This week in the Tumu Hub we are learning about Laudato Si. Laudato Si is a letter that pope Francis wrote to the whole entire world this is called an encyclical letter. An encyclical letter is a letter with information about a topic and it goes through all of the different religious stages. In Laudato Si Pope Francis is telling everyone about climate change and how it has gotten out of hand. For our create we had to make our own Laudato Si. Here it is, I hope you like it…
